Me
I
have taught preschool and kindergarten at The
Garden Preschool and have taught pre-service
early childhood educators as a professor at Seneca
College. I
have also worked as policy and communications
advisor for the College
of Early Childhood Educators,
the professional self-regulatory organization
for early childhood educators in Ontario.
Other
teaching experience includes courses
on reading accredited by Seattle Pacific University with Reader's Way
Consulting, science teaching with Pacific Science
Center and tutoring with Puget
Sound Learning. In
addition to classroom experience, I have worked
on production teams developing educational
content, including as production coordinator
for Biz
Kids - a show on business and finance airing
on PBS stations throughout the United States.
I have also developed educational and leadership
development programs for human rights organizations
of low-wage
workers as a leadership organizer with the
Centre
for Learning and Democracy. My

- Conducted
workshops for early educators and care providers,
including at conferences held by the Washington
Association for the Education of Young Children,
Ohio Association for the Education of Young
Children, Michigan Association for the Education
of Young Children and the Washington READ
Conference (state chapter of the International
Reading Association)
- Worked
closely with the United Workers, an organization
of low-wage workers in Baltimore, Maryland,
and other human rights organizations providing
media training, development of popular education
materials and leadership development training
- Developed
and taught courses on early literacy development,
linguistics of early reading foundations
and child-centred and developmentally appropriate
reading instruction with Jeanne Smith and
Laurie Spitzer, which were offered for continuing
education credit by Seattle Pacific University
- Provided
education research services to New Story
Ventures for documentary on education system
in the United States, produced by Emmy-nominated
producer of Hip Hop Harry (Discovery Channel)
- Provided
production coordination services to Biz Kids
Productions, assisting with production of
Biz Kids (aired on PBS), an educational
television show by the producers of Disney's
Bill Nye the Science Guy

child-centred and culturally relevant curriculum
training materials and supervised staff of
15 teachers, assistant teachers and support
staff at Pike Market Child Care and Preschool

summer school program for grade 4-6 students
in Washington, DC public schools for students
in need of intense tutoring and instruction
